Regardless of the nature of the outcome from USCIS, I think we should all take 5-10 minutes out of our busy lives and all the "predicting" and dash off a quick note of thanks to Congresswoman Lofgren for taking our cause to heart and using her position to ask the right questions that has led USCIS to consider some action to alleviate the pain they caused us by creating this mess. I figured we could show our appreciation for what she did to help us out.

You can't gain any legal status using your Canadian employment. It's like you're working for a company in your home country and staying in the US. Your home country's company cannot sponsor you for H1 unless they have a branch here in the US. At best, you can stay in the US by using other status like being in H4 and your spouse working as H1. OR if you have a GC.

Mu I140 was approved back in May /07. I got a LUD today bit I don't know what it means. I have the receipt notice of my I485. I also got LUD on my I131 for me and my family.

Did anyone travel to India, by landing at Delhi Intl airport, and then proceeding to other destination city through a domestic airline?
Never been to Delhi, and I have no idea how Intl and domestic travel works in tandem...

Almost every time landed @ delhi and then got to a domestic flight (@ Indore - lot of times)
It all depends on your international arrival and next connection to domestic city (how long is lay over?) You can get a good connection from New york to mumbai to indore with airline A due to its flight schedule but you might not get the same ''good connection'' with airline B as it just has a different schedule.
So it depends on the following
-From where you fly
-When you reach
-When is the first avaiable domestic flight
-how much is the total cost
:)

Has anyone else come accross this problem? I wanted to remitt funds to India and when I logged in to SBI GLS web site I got the following message:
Due to regulations applicable in your state of residence in USA, we regret that, at present, we are unable to continue offering SBI Express Remit - US (our product using direct debit facility through ACH) till further notice.
We are engaged in meeting the state's current regulatory requirements, and it will be our endeavor to restore to you at the earliest the convenience you have been enjoying. If you have maintained all your communications with the old attorney, file a Legal Malpractice lawsuit against him. You can check yellow pages and contact a malpractice lawyer. Usually such cases are on contingency basis.
It will not save your 485 but you can recover significant amount of money as compensation from that attorney.
For your 485, check with your attorney if an appeal can be filed. I feel you have a strong ground since it was CIS fault.

I am trying to figure out the same and after rigorous communication with my lawyer and a few companies, I came to an estimate that it may take anywhere between, atleast 12-18 mnths on a thumb rule. Again, I understand its on a case by case basis.
Reasons ::
(1) Most of Desi companies filed under Eb2. Those are EB3 are mostly from american companies. And even if they qualified for Eb2 , companies filed for Eb3. So its any one 's guess that these companies will file new Eb2.
(2) Process takes 12- 18 months even if companies are ready
(3) Eb2 has tough criteria and lots of scrutiny.
(4) Desi companies are scared to file for new Eb2 when their H1bs are under review too.

Thanks IV for your efforts on this. This is jsut personal, but I do find the timing too much of a coincidence. My thought would be related to the increase in filing fees aspect that will now net USCIS a goldmine in terms of huge filings.
Is there a timeline we can figure out that would allow for most filings to go through at the old fee structure?
That would net some savings for filers who have multiple dependents.
Just a thought.....

I work for company A. I found a project for myself with X through another company B. (The end client is X and the middleman is B. My company A has contract with company B NOT WITH company X (end client)
I have an offer from end client X and my company is in the process of suing me in Virginia as I have a non-compete agreement not to work for client/end client or client's end client.
Has anyone come across such situation. Please help me.
I work on hourly rates and don't get paid if I am on bench. Can this be used nullify the contract as this is not legal on H1.
