I think this is the key point for this argument. Apple, true, did not introduce the first touch screen phone. However, they blew the lid off the touchscreen phone market when introducing the iPhone.
One problem I see with Apple though is once they have their successful recipe, they tend to stagnate on it. That's when the competition gets the jump, starts innovating themselves and pushes ahead.
Android OS has gone through many changes and many people are now starting to feel iOS is getting dated. Android was first with true multi-tasking (iOS still lacks it even though it doesn't kill batteries on Android phones), copy/paste, augmented reality apps and they've implemented a much better notification system than Apple's near useless "block everything you're doing to answer this question".
Look at the MacBook Air, Rev A. They launched it, then basically forgot about it until the Rev D model which is now one of their top sellers. Will they stagnate there too ? A lot of people thought that "the future of Macbooks!" would actually translate in a few changes to other Macbook lines. It didn't. Look at the Mac Mini.
With the iPod, they were lucky that devices like PMPs were already very limited. As long as they played music, who cares what else they do. In computers, smartphones and now tablets, there is much more room for competitors to leap frog Apple and we're already seeing it as far as smartphones go. The once mighty iPhone is now finding its spot in the industry, comfortably sitting at #3 or #4.

The iPad commercials are so much better than the current iPhone ads it's not even funny.
I'm not saying the iPhone ads should be just like this, but surely they can do better than what they've got if they have the creative folks who worked on this beauty.

To say the lighting is quite good, it sure is grainy! The grain also seems fake. As does the angle of the phone.

Dredful and confusing. What is on an what is off is not obvious. I prefer Apple to just leave the UI as it is in Snow Leopard. I hate this white only colourless drab look. Bring back Blue widgets. Stop wasting time by obsessing over trying to make everything look like an iPhone. I don't want an Apple Display, an Macbook Pro etc to look like an iPhone with the glass mirror front. I certainly don't want OS X to look like iOS.
Apple, focus on more important things such as a decent FileSystem (ZFS), Queued file copies, more robust and threaded I/O API's, Resolution Independence etc.

The problem is that I don't see how it can be iTunes compatible without Apple's involvement. (See above post on Real Harmony). iTunes will only query ITMS for validating a DRMed file, not DoubleTwist or Amazon. Without iTunes things get a lot less compelling.
I guess it depends how much of FairPlay they end up replicating. If they replicate the server too, then it'll probably be simple to tell iTunes to look at the third-party server (just capture the data going to Apple's IP address and send it off to DoubleTwist).

In personal experience, most of the Apple "haters" I've known have fallen into the category if they could afford an Apple product, then they wouldn't hate.
Hating something is easier than openly admitting "I want that but cannot afford it", so by creating a hate figure out of the company/products, it makes it easier for the person to "accept" that they will never own the product they secretly lust after.
Cognitive dissonance is easier to "harmonise by hate" (see the oxymoron here?) than to accept with an honest mind, just like some people deal with buyer's remorse by telling themselves how much they love their new product. I was a Mac-hater long before I even knew that the price was higher for Macs than for PCs, it goes back to horrific experience with a G3 iMac, a hockey puck mouse and OS 9...

The bigger problem is that Apple rejected an app that served just this purpose (but was surely less pretty), as was already mentioned. This is a cool app, but they should be giving all of the money they earn from it to those that tried to submit this app long ago. I love Apple and have been converting slowly since my first iPod several years ago, but this is absolutely lame of them, even if it only effected a few people.
And what was the motivation of the third party app makers? To make a fast buck out of serving ads to people more interested in the ad than the product. That is bad for advertisers and probably the real reason the app was rejected.
Who know whether clicks inside this app count as regular impressions? Unlike any third party, Apple is in a position to refund any advertisers for clicks on these ads. If they are doing that then I don't see anything wrong with them releasing this niche product.

The only thing that I'm missing is to restart the Timer (or use another one). Invalidating my Timer only pauses it, even = nil or releasing it, my Timer just continues where it left.
What makes you think that ? Once you invalidate a timer, it's done and gone. Look, I implemented a timer that updates on screen with minutes:seconds and it gets reset properly when I invalidate it (take a peek at the screenshot).
A screenshot like this goes a long way. Console output with NSLog to know what gets called and when is even better.
If you posted up the full code of your viewController, we might even be able to point you in the right direction. The more you are specific, the better we can help.

It's just an object that's inserted into the run loop, waits for a specificied interval and then calls a method (depending either the NSInvocation or the target/selector you used when creating it). If you set its repeat to YES, it will call this method over and over again at the specified interval.
This specified method (in my screenshot that would be updateLabel) has to do some processing to display minutes:seconds on a label.

I used to live in Ithaca, NY and drove 45 miles to work up to Seneca Falls, going through much wilderness and nothingness. Throughout the drive, with Verizon not only would I have coverage but I would have 3G coverage most of the way. With AT&T, no only did I not have 3G coverage (about 1 mile outside of Ithaca) but much of the drive, I had no coverage at all.
That is just one example. Part of me wants to cancel AT&T and use my iPhone as a standalone iPod Touch device.

The left display in the pic below is one I bought 2 years ago, it was replaced 2 times (this is the 3rd display). The display on the right is brandnew, I bought it on wednesday from the online apple store.
The colors in the picture are exagerated because of the photo itself. The background of the screens is black and the backlight leakage is white irl.
The effect is also not as obvious as in the picture but however, it is there, very visible.
If you look at the highres - http://users.skynet.be/bk318948/macosx.nl/schermen.jpg - then you can clearly see there is ghosting on the right screen.
I've requested for a replacement for the new one. The old one (left) was bought at a dealer. It's still in warranty (applecare) but i'm in some kind of dispute with that dealer, so i'm hoping to take care of it directly through Apple.
On a sidenote, I payed almost 2400 euro (vat incl.) for the left one 2 years agon, the right one, which I bought this week, cost me 1150 euro. Should be enough to be eligible for 2 perfect displays no?
